Kenya & Tanzania Wildlife Migration Safari
This safari is designed for the months of
August through October, taking you to the best
of Kenya’s wildlife reserves combined with two
of Tanzania's unique areas. With your private
guide and 4wd safari vehicle you’ll explore
Samburu in Kenya's northern desert country.
Drive down into the great rift valley to Lake
Nakuru and then venture into the famous Maasai
Mara in search of the “big five. From Kenya,
you’ll fly to Tanzania to visit Tarangire, Lake
Manyara and you end your safari at the awesome
Ngorongoro crater.
Day 1 - Nairobi
Arrive today into Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta
International Airport. After clearing customs
you will be met by our safari representative and
transferred to the famous Norfolk Hotel. Dating
from Kenya's colonial days, the Norfolk is a
landmark in Nairobi. The hotel is rich in
history, enhanced by up-to-the-minute facilities
and amenities including a heated swimming pool,
health club (fully equipped gym, aerobics room,
sauna & steam rooms), salon, news-stand, and
gift shops. The Norfolk is located in downtown
Nairobi opposite the National Theater.

Day 2 - Mt Kenya National Reserve
This morning after breakfast you will be met by
your private safari guide and 4WD vehicle and
depart for the Mt. Kenya National Reserve.
You’ll drive through the Kenya highlands passing
a patchwork quilt of Kikuyu farms and some of
Kenya’s famous coffee and pineapple plantations
as you make your way to Mountain Lodge. The
unique lodge is located in an indigenous forest
7,200 ft up in the reserve. It overlooks a
natural waterhole and saltlick and is surrounded
by dense forest. Each room faces the waterhole
where you can watch the wildlife come to drink.
Visitors include elephant, buffalo, rhino, hyena
and if you are really lucky a leopard or lion.
There is also a viewing balcony and a
subterranean hide for some close up peeks and
photos. You have lunch at the lodge and the rest
of the day free to relax and watch the wildlife.
After dinner relax in the lounge and then it’s
to bed – knowing that if anything exciting
happens at the waterhole – you can ask to be
awakened by a porter. Overnight - Mountain Lodge

Day 3 - Samburu / Shaba Game Reserves
After an early breakfast at the hotel, you will
be met by your guide and depart by road, past
the equator to the semi-arid, dessert landscape
of Samburu country. A backdrop of rocky outcrops
and prominent mountain ranges to the north, and
doum palms and riverine forest, give the Samburu
and Shaba National Reserves an exotic feel. The
Ewaso Nyiro sand river runs through the reserves
, making it a draw for large numbers of
wildlife, including: Lion, cheetah, leopard, and
many elephant. The birdlife is phenomenal, and
you will see animals unique to this northern
region, like the long-necked gerenuk, the
reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Grevy’s zebra,
and the dainty dik dik.
You’ll experience your first gamedrive on the
way to your luxury lodge, situated amongst the
doum palms along the Ewaso Ngiro River. The
beautifully appointed chalet bedrooms look out
at the river and there is a free-form swimming
pool for cooling off in the heat of the day.
After lunch and some time to relax you’ll be off
for an afternoon game drive in this spectacular

Day 4 - Samburu / Shaba Game Reserves
Spend another day at with both morning and
afternoon game viewing drives in the reserves.

Day 5 - Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, you’ll depart by
road via Nyahururu Falls, down to the floor of
the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National
Park, famed for it’s flocks of flamingoes. The
Park has a rhino sanctuary and it also contains
many leopard in addition to fantastic bird life
and the usual plains game. After settling into
your lodge and enjoying lunch, you will depart
on an afternoon game drive in the park. The Lion
Hill Lodge offers splendid views out over the

Day 6 - Maasai Mara National Reserve
Today you’re off to the renowned Maasai Mara,
Kenya's premier game reserve - home of the “big
five” - lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and
elephant, as well as cheetah, zebra, giraffe and
vast herds of plains antelope and numerous other
wildlife.
On morning game drives you will awake before
dawn and set out at sunrise in search of game.
You may come upon a lion family feeding together
on last nights kill. In between your morning and
afternoon game drives you'll have ample time to
relax at your luxury tented camp.
Your stay here will be at Siana Springs Tented
Camp, a tranquil permanent tented camp located
just outside of the Reserve in the wildlife rich
Maasai tribal lands. Because it is outside the
Reserve walking and night game drives are
possible. There are 38 tents each with
impressive en suite bathrooms with flush toilets
and hot and cold running water. The camp has a
rustic but comfortable bush flavor. Since the
tents are quite spread out, there is an electric
fence around it's extensive grounds to provide
security -- this means less chance of stumbling
into an elephant on your way to your tent after
dinner, or taking a swim in the pool. Overnight

Days 7/8 - Maasai Mara National Reserve
Each morning you’ll be awakened at dawn and
after coffee or tea depart on an early morning
game/bird viewing drive. Return to camp for a
full breakfast with the mid-morning free and
lunch at your camp before departing on afternoon
game drives. Overnight - Siana Springs Tented

Day 9 - Maasai Mara / Nairobi / Arusha
After breakfast at the camp, bid farewell to
your Kenyan guide and board the scheduled flight
to Nairobi where you will connect with the
scheduled flight to Arusha Tanzania. Upon
arrival you will be met by your Tanzania safari
guide and 4WD vehicle and depart for Mt. Village
Lodge where you will have the remainder of the
afternoon free to relax. Your accommodation will
be in one of the charming stone cottages sit
amidst the lush gardens with views of the Lake
Diluti and the surrounding hills. Overnight -
Mountain Village Lodge (Breakfast & dinner)
Day 10 - Tarangire National Park
This morning after breakfast at the lodge you
will be met by your private guide and 4WD
vehicle and depart by road to the scenic
Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s third
largest. Here you’ll find a geologic landscape
as diverse as the wildlife. Mysterious Baobab
trees dot the landscape and the Tarangire River
meanders through the park. During the dry season
the river attracts an abundance of wildlife,
including up to 6000 elephant, lion, cheetah,
and buffalo and a variety of colorful birds.
Your accommodations for the next three nights
will be at Maramboi Camp. This is a small luxury
tented camp set within a 2,000 acre private area
in the migratory corridor between Lake Manyara
and Tarangire – just 15 minutes drive from the
entry gate. The 10 large walk-in tents are set
on wooden platforms and there is a dining boma.
Each tent has full ensuite facilities and 24hr,
12Volt solar power. There is also a saltwater
swimming pool.
Activities include wildlife viewing in Tarangire
and along the southern shore of Lake Manyara,
walking with Maasai guides and visiting nearby
Datoga and Maasai villages.
After lunch you will enjoy an afternoon game
drive followed by drinks around the fire before

Day 11 / 12 - Tarangire National Park
Over the next two days enjoy game drives, guided
walks and village visits. Return to camp in the
afternoons or early evenings for a swim or
drinks around the fire before dinner. Overnight

Day 13 - Lake Manyara National Park /
Ngorongoro
This morning you’ll leave Tarangire after an
early breakfast and drive across the Great Rift
Valley to Lake Manyara National Park. Although
only 205 sq. miles in size this enchanting park
is noted for its beauty and incredibly lush
acacia forest of giant fig and mahogany trees,
which are home to troops of baboons and blue
monkeys. The park is also home to large numbers
of buffalo, giraffe, elephant, hippo, impala and
the Hippo Pool, where large numbers usually
gather. Well known for its birds (over 400
species), Lake Manyara is one of the few places
you will see the comical Ground Hornbill and the
Crested Eagle.
After your game drive you will continue to the
"eighth wonder of the world", the Ngorongoro
Crater. Driving up the slopes of the lush green
mountain and arriving at the rim of the crater ,
the first glimpse takes your breath away.
Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken
caldera on earth. The floor of this collapsed
volcano spreads for 102 sq. miles and the walls
are 2,000 feet high, a truly awesome sight. The
crater floor is a virtual "Noah's Ark",
inhabited by almost every species of wildlife
indigenous to East Africa, and contains a river,
several swamps, a soda lake - complete with
flamingoes, a forest and open plains.
Your accommodation for the next two nights will
be at the unique Ngorongoro Serena Lodge,
perched high on the crater rim. Enjoy a
sundowner on the verandah this evening before

Day 14 - Ngoorongoro Crater
This morning after an early breakfast you will
depart with your guide and descend the crater
walls to the floor of the crater. You will spend
the whole day game-viewing with a stop for a
picnic lunch, returning to the lodge in the
afternoon. Overnight - Serena Crater Lodge (all
meals & activities)
DAY 15 - Arusha / Nairobi / Depart
This morning after breakfast you’ll be driven
back to Arusha and after a stop for lunch,
continue to Kilimanjaro Airport to board flight
to Nairobi. Upon arrival you will be met and
transferred to The Norfolk Hotel where you will
have the use of a dayroom until your evening
transfer to the airport for your departure
flight. Dinner is on your own tonight. Dayroom -
