Kenya Under Canvas Safari
Discover the majestic wildlife and
spectacular scenery of four diverse eco-systems
on this 10 day private safari – all under
canvas. Starting in the land of the ‘maneaters’’
– tsavo national park, you then travel to the
heart of maasailand, near amboseli national
park, famous for it’s large elephant population.
Next you visit lake najuru, famous for it’s
flamingos. The safari ends with 3 nights in the
renowned maasai mara. Accomodations are in small
permanent tented camps and travel is by 4wd
vehicle with your guide accompanying you
througout.
Day 1 - Nairobi
Arrive into Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta
International Airport today. After clearing
customs and immigration, you will be met by our
safari representative and transferred to the
Panafric Hotel. The hotel is imposingly set in a
quiet residential suburb, which commands a
panoramic view of the Nairobi city. At the Flame
Tree Brassiere, the open terraced restaurant, is
named after a Flame Tree that stands
majestically at the middle of the restaurant.
Pizzas are the specialty, prepared in an
authentic wood fired brick Pizza oven.
Traditional pasta dishes, an array of burgers,
grilled items; vegetarian dishes and exiting
snack items are served to suit all tastes.

Day 2 - Tsavo West National Park
This morning after an early breakfast you will
depart by road with your guide for the legendary
land of the Maneaters – Tsavo. A diverse and
vast park with altitudes ranging from 500 –
6000ft, and an area of 9,065 sq. kms, this
wilderness supports large numbers of game
including elephant, rhino, lion, huge herds of
buffalo, giraffe and a variety of plains game to
name a few. Your home for your first two nights
“in the bush” – will be at the Ziwani Safari
Camp. With a spectacular view of mystical Mount
Kilimanjaro, and easy access to the wild
attractions of Tsavo West National Park, Voyager
Ziwani offers a tranquil retreat in one of the
wildest places left on Earth. Located on a
private 30,000-acre concession on the western
edge of Tsavo, the camp sits on a secluded dam
on the Sante River - home to turtles, crocodiles
and hundreds of basking hippos.
After lunch at Ziwani you will have some time to
get acquainted with the camp before departing on
an afternoon game drive. Return to camp with
time to freshen up before dinner. Overnight -

Day 3 - Tsavo West National Park
You have another day to explore the park in
search of the famous Tsavo elephants on game
drives and guided walks. Overnight - Ziwani

Day 4 - Amboseli National Park
After breakfast you will depart by road through
the back side of Tsavo driving south via the
beautiful Chyulu Hills to Amboseli National
Park. The park and surrounding game reserve
cover 1260 square miles and is mostly arid
woodland with a series of swamps and lakes that
provide a year round water supply for the
wildlife. Amboseli sits in the shadow of Mt
Kilimanjaro and is known for it's large elephant
population and other big game that is attracted
to the area by underground springs fed from Mt.
Kilimanjaro.
With a game drive along the way, you’ll arrive
at Kibo Safari Camp in time for lunch. In the
afternoon you’ll depart on an afternoon game
drive in search of Amboseli’s famous elephants
and with luck Kilimanjaro with be out for some
sunset photos. Overnight - Kibo Safari Camp (all

Day 5 - Amboseli National Park
Spend another day exploring this beautiful area
on morning and afternoon wildlife viewing
activities. Return to your camp in time for a
sundowner around the campfire before dinner.

Day 6 - Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, depart via Nairobi and drive
down the floor of the Great Rift Valley
escarpment to Lake Nakuru National Park. 35
million years ago tectonic activity formed The
Great Rift Valley . It stretches 6,000 km from
Syria to Mozambique. In Kenya the deepest point
is in the Naivasha/Nakuru region.
Lake Nakuru is world-renowned for its millions
of pink Flamingoes feeding in the lake. It is a
protected game sanctuary for endangered species
such as the Black/ White rhino and the
Rothschild Giraffe. It is also home to lion,
leopard and the Black & White Colobus monkey.
Tucked away in this spectacular area, on 6,400
acres of the Delamere Estate, on The Congreve
Conservancy, Mbweha Camp is nestled up against
the southern border of Lake Nakuru National Park
with views of the Eburu and Mau ranges. After
enjoying lunch at the camp you’ll depart on an
afternoon game drive, returning to the camp for

Day 7 - Maasai Mara Game Reserve
After an early breakfast, depart by road across
the Rift Valley escarpment to Maasai Mara Game
Reserve, the jewel of Kenya's game reserves.
Located in the northern section of the great
Serengeti Plains, it has one of the highest
concentrations of wildlife anywhere in Africa.
The reserve is the home of the "Big Five" ...
elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino, as
well as cheetah, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest,
hippo, impala, gazelle and numerous other
wildlife, including hundreds of species of
birds. During August to October, the Mara is the
scene of annual migration of millions of
wildebeest up from the Serengeti plains in
search of water and grasses.
You will arrive in time for lunch at Nyumbu
Camp, a luxury eco-friendly seasonal camp,
situated in the Ngila Plains at the edge of
Maasai Mara Game Reserve. The camp overlooks a
magnificent view of hills and plains. It is put
up seasonally to ensure natural regeneration of
the area during the long rains. During your
stay, you will have the opportunity to explore
this great reserve in depth on morning and
afternoon game viewing activities – including
guided walks.
While in Mara, you will have the option to float
above the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem on board a
hot air balloon followed by a gourmet champagne
breakfast. There is also an optional day-trip to
the second largest fresh water lake in the
World- Lake Victoria where you can fish for
giant Nile Perch. You can also visit a Maasai
tribal village and enjoy entertainment by Maasai
dancers. Overnight - Nyumbu Camp ( all meals &

Days 8/9 - Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Each morning you’ll rise early with tea or
coffee brought to your tent. At dawn set off for
a game drive on the Mara plains. Return to the
camp for a leisurely breakfast. Afterwards, take
an escorted walk around the camp grounds
learning about the flora and medicinal uses of
various shrubs and trees, or visit a Maasai
manyatta (village). After lunch you can enjoy a
siesta or watch wildlife from the verandah of
your tent. Afternoon tea is followed by further
game-viewing to sunset. Return to camp for an
evening around the campfire and dinner.

Day 10 - Maasai Mara / Nairobi / Depart Home
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before saying
good-bye and enjoying a final game drive as you
proceed to Nairobi and The Panafric Hotel where
you will have the use of a dayroom until your
evening transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International
Airport for your departure flight. Overnight -
